The AMSA Voice

Cassandra Xavier, Co-editor

Cassandra is a senior with a penchant for ripping apart her peers’ papers. That is, she enjoys editing, which includes grammatical and technical corrections as well as structural and thematic suggestions as well. Writing has consumed a broad spectrum of Cassandra’s interests and now includes journalism.

While she may be fascinated by language conventions and the difference between "to lay down" and "to lie down," Cassandra also likes creative writing. One of her favorite classes at AMSA was Creative Writing, and she was part of the school's slam poetry team (Slamsa) from 2012-2014. She hopes to be published someday.

Cassandra also has an interest in politics and world events, frequently stealing her father’s monthy edition of The Economist or reading stories on her BBC news app. She thinks that awareness of the world around us, be it local politics or more worldly issues, is important and can impact our daily lives more than we think.

Cassandra believes in honesty and transparency and hopes to display that in her articles for The AMSA Voice, even if it means asking some uncomfortable questions. She intends to do the best she can in carrying on The AMSA Voice’s legacy.
