Big win for AMSA lacrosse

FITCHBURG–Senior Alex Fricker scored three goals, AMSA took a five-goal lead into halftime, and the Eagles closed out a 6-2 lacrosse victory over Fitchburg on Wednesday.
Junior Ian McCarthy added a goal and two assists and the defense was anchored by Sam Mahler, who had 16 saves.
“We played a complete three quarters,” AMSA coach Frank Arena said. “[We] got a little too comfortable in the fourth quarter … [but] it was a great bounce back from a tough loss this past Monday.”
SOFTBALL
FRAMINGHAM–Emily Nicholas and Anna Holmi had five hits each as AMSA rolled to a 28-2 victory over Marian on Wednesday.
Shrutika Ruhela slugged a home run for the Eagles, who improved to 4-4 on the season.
VARSITY BASEBALL
MILLIS–AMSA fell behind 4-0 after one inning Wednesday and couldn’t recover in an 8-0 loss to Millis. The Eagles were hurt defensively by five errors.
Mike Bonk had both of the hits for AMSA, which fell to 3-4. The Eagles play at North Brookfield today.
JV BASEBALL
MILLIS–AMSA dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Millis on Wednesday, keeping the Eagles winless on the season. Eagles pitcher Kevin Macauley pitched well in defeat, throwing six innings without issuing a walk.
“Best game of the year so far,” AMSA coach Eloi Ruegg said. “[The] boys had a great attitude and played a great game.”
